The 4th Annual Mini Masters 2010

The Mini Masters 2010 has come and gone. The day was a beautiful sunny day in central Florida and the competition was stellar this year.

Grounds keeper Linda did a beautiful job grooming the course, the greens were lush and the Azaleas blooms added a perfect pop of color.

This year the course had a few improvements. The first hole had a challenging obstacle engineered by Linda. It made the par one seem like a par three for some.

The second hole also had a few improvements made to it, a sand trap and a water feature added a little extra difficultly to the already challenging hole.

Hole three with it's single sided hole was as challenging as ever. I think one person was pushed over the edge on this hole with a score topping the charts at 23 no names will be mentioned.

The sponsor of the tournament, Stacy tabulated the scores at the end of the afternoon while suspense mounted.

The gallery was a buzz with anticipation.

The winner of The Mini Masters 2010 is Mary Jo. She received the green jacket, a beautiful gold golf pin and the coveted giant check.

The Mini Masters ~ April 10, 2008

It was a beautiful day in Winter park, Florida. The sun was out and not as storm cloud in the sky, perfect weather for the Second Annual Mini Masters.

History

Looking to provide a service to golf by hosting a tournament, Stacy Prince decided to hold an annual event beginning in 2007. The final decision was made at a meeting in Winter Park, Florida. Stacy proposed the event be called the Mini Masters Tournament. An early decision was whether Prince would play or serve as an official. Prince preferred not to compete but was persuaded by the Club's members to join the field. In the 2 Tournaments that Prince played, his best finish was 2nd in 2007.

The first Tournament was held in April 2007, and beginning in 2007, the Mimi Masters was scheduled each year during the first day of the Masters. That first Tournament was won by Jonathan Hillock. In 2007 Stacy Prince hit "the shot heard 'round the world" on the 3rd hole, tying Hillock and forcing a playoff. Hillock won the 3-hole playoff the following round by one stroke.

Stacy Prince's Message

"In golf, customs of etiquette and decorum are just as important as rules governing play. It is appropriate for spectators to applaud successful strokes in proportion to difficulty but excessive demonstrations by a player or his partisans are not proper because of the possible effect upon other competitors."

"Most distressing to those who love the game of golf is the applauding or cheering of misplays or misfortunes of a player. Such occurrences have been rare at the Mini Masters but we must eliminate them entirely if our patrons are to continue to merit their reputation as the most knowledgeable and considerate in the world."

The Mini Masters is not an international competition and the contestants are invited guests. Everyone should be treated with courtesy and respect.
Everyone is requested to display the traditional customs of etiquette, decorum and behavior, and to obey all Tournament policies, signs and verbal instructions of Tournament officials. Protests of any kind are prohibited.
For the safety of everyone, and in keeping with policy established at major sporting events, running is considered to be unacceptable behavior.
In fairness to spectator access and viewing, only one stool/seat will be allowed per person entering the grounds. Seats in observation stands are not to be reserved and stools/seats are not to be unattended for any inordinate length of time.

The Trophies

Awards and Trophies

The permanent Mini Masters Trophy, which depicts the green grass that is growing outside the Mini Masters, was introduced in 2008. It was made in The United States of America and consists of wood, paint, paper, glue and Copper tape. The trophy hangs on a wall, and strips of paper tape provide space to highligh the name of the winner. In 2007, Mini Masters trophies were awarded to the champion, along with the second and third place winners receiving trophies as well. This tradition continues to this day.

Father Norton wakes up to a beautiful and sunny Sunday morning and decides he just has to play golf. He pretends he’s sick and convinces the associate pastor to say Mass for him that day, then heads out of town to a golf course about 40 miles away so he won’t run into anyone from his parish. On the first tee, he sees that he has the entire course to himself—everyone else is in church!

Watching all this from the heavens, Saint Peter leans over to the Lord and asks, "Are you going to let him get away with this?"

Just then Father Norton hits the ball and it heads straight for the pin, dropping just short of it, rolls up and falls into the hole-a 420 yard hole in one!

Astonished, St. Peter looks at the Lord and asks, "Why in Heaven did you let him do that?"

The Lord smiles and replies, "Who’s he going to tell?"
